Soap preview: 11-15 October

EastEndersTragedy hits the Jacksons when after a night boozing, Billie is found dead. His mum Carol can barely contain her grief and anger – and it looks like it might be too much for her to bear.

It’s Bianca though who suffers the initial shock of discovering the body. She goes to rouse him the day after his birthday party, thinking that he’s sleeping heavily – only to discover that he’s not breathing. She realises what has happened and calls Carol straight away.
Carol can’t take in the news and though she rushes round to see him, she seems unable to comprehend that every parent’s nightmare has come true. Her son is dead. When the doctors arrive to take him away, she can barely bring herself to say goodbye.

And then the anger kicks in. She blames her niece Lauren for taking booze to the birthday party –and Max steps in to defend her – bringing him into conflict with Carol. And later in the week, poor Carol is even more confused when Billie’s dad, Alan, arrives back in the square to try and find out what happened to his son.

She’s so confused by the sight of her ex that she simply runs away and hides. Carol just can’t cope with the situation and her daughter Bianca and father Jim are terrified that she might do something stupid. She doesn’t seem to be able to even start grieving. Can they possibly help?

Also this week: Whitney rejects Peter after spending the night with him and Bianca comes to blows with Kim after hearing that she kissed Ricky.

Coronation StreetThere’s a horrific scene on the Street when good old Graeme Proctor is left bleeding and battered on the cobbles after being run down by David Platt’s car. The crash comes after the former friends have a fight because Tina tells Graeme that David physically attacked her. Just as the rage appears to die down, Graeme is crossing the road when he sees a car approaching…

Ironically, the trouble begins because Graeme is becoming friendlier with David. He keeps inviting David round, unaware of what has gone on between him and Tina. But this makes life impossible for Tina, who breaks down and tells him that David recently attacked her. She makes him promise not to say anything to David but Graeme can’t control himself.

Graeme can’t control his anger and in The Rovers he gives David a telling off. David tries to apologise but Graeme flips out – and even though he’s not a violent person, a brawl kicks off. Dev and Steve break up the fight before it gets too serious but David is in no doubt that his old youth institution buddy is furious with him.

It seems like the pair are certain to make up – until Graeme is caught in the headlights. Does David mean to run him over? Or is it an accident? We’ll have to wait and see.

Also this week: Rosie attempts a late-night fry up – and causes a fire. And Molly discovers that Jack Duckworth is on his way out.

EmmerdaleHolly Barton is sinking lower and lower into a drugs hell. This week, her parents discover her unconscious on her bedroom floor after an overdose of heroin.

Holly manages to convince them that she may be getting better by going to a counselling session. But she’s just playing a game. She’s left alone and manages to steal so that she can run away to score again – and every time the drugs are getting stronger.

At first she tells John and Moira that she ran away because she was scared. But later they enter her room and discover her lying motionless on the floor and realise that not only could she be seriously injured, she is still deceiving them.

To make matters worse, her little sister Hannah witnesses the whole thing. It is becoming clear that even though Holly might want to get better, it is going to be a long hard road to sobriety. And can her parents stay with her all the way?  Moira is furious and tells her that she is going to have to clean up her act – or leave the house.
